Q: How does shipping work?

We use a White Glove Delivery service to ship your kayak. White Glove shipments are typically deployed on a dedicated truck meaning they incur far less "touches" than a traditional LTL shipment and are thus shielded from many types of damage such as forklifts. Typically, once your kayak leaves our warehouse, it will delivered within 7 days. You will be provided with a tracking number once the kayak is shipped so you can monitor its progress. A representative from our shipping provider will reach out to you prior to delivery to coordinate the delivery process directly.

Damage Free White Glove Delivery

What do you mean by White Glove Delivery?

A white glove service refers to one of many services for shipments that require special attention during shipping. These shipments are usually very heavy or very fragile and need to be handled with utmost care to prevent damage. We utilize these types of carriers as they offer several options on moving cargo such as: commercial or cargo aircraft, ground, ocean, dedicated vehicles & rail. Due to the diverse range of options for moving cargo through these carriers, our cargo typically moves with far less "touches" than a traditional LTL (less than truckload) model. Contrarily, most other kayak retailers utilize traditional LTL shipping which is a way for to ship cargo without waiting for a full truckload of freight that needs to be sent or paying for a small amount of freight on a big, empty truck. Although this approach is typically cheaper, there are often more "touches" resulting in a higher damage ratio.

Watercraft

The hull and deck of any Old Town watercraft is covered by a Limited Lifetime warranty. Lifetime is defined as the lifetime of the boat based on the original purchase date.

PDL Drive

The award-winning PDL Drive is backed by a five (5) year limited warranty that covers material defects in workmanship and materials on the PDL Drive for a period of five years from date of purchase.

Minn Kota Motors (Those fitted to Old Town Kayaks SPECIFICALLY)

The Minn Kota motor on your new Old Town watercraft is backed by a two (2) year limited warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship appearing within two (2) years after the date of purchase.

Blems and Rentals

For blemished boats or those marked as BLEMs, the hull and deck are covered for five (5) years from the original purchase date. For standard watercraft used for rental, demonstration, resort or outfitter purposes, the warranty is ninety (90) days from date of delivery by the dealer to the consumer. For watercraft built as special “outfitter grade” boats used for rental, demonstration, resort or outfitter purposes, the hull and deck are covered for one (1) year from date of delivery.

To Whom Does This Warranty Apply?

All warranties apply to the original retail consumer ONLY.

What does this warranty cover?

This warranty covers material defects in workmanship and materials in your new Old Town Watercraft purchase.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

There is NO WARRANTY, and no portion of warranty expense will be reimbursed for the following:

Products that have been used for commercial not outlined in the Blems and Rentals section.
Products that have been subjected to unusual or abnormal use, misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, normal wear and tear, damage due to environmental or natural elements, failure to follow our instructions, unauthorized repair incorrectly performed maintenance or repair, improper installation, or storage.
Products determined to have been used for any activity other than an activity that is customary for this type of product.
Claims made by any party other than the original purchaser of a product.
Products damaged while in possession of freight carrier, dealer, you or any party other than Old Town.
Damage caused because product was modified.
Products not manufactured by Old Town.
Products manufactured to your, dealer’s or other third party’s specifications.
Products not registered with a completed warranty registration form that has been returned to us in the time period required.

In order for this warranty to apply, you must retain and provide to Old Town receipts showing date of product purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does rigging mean?

Rigging refers to the process of installing additional equipment onto your kayak prior to (or after if you're local) purchase. This can be anything from lighting to fish finders and everything in-between!
If you're interested in rigging, you will speak with our in-house rigging manager who will work with you to build you the rig of your dreams!

Do I need anything else to use my new kayak?

This will be contingent on the exact model you choose. Most motorized models will need at least a battery to get going. We typically suggest also picking up a good life jacket and safety flag to keep you safe.

Can I finance my purchase?

Absolutely! We offer financing through Shop Pay. Please keep in mind that these services are credit based so the options you are offered (I.E. time to pay) will be subject to your credit rate.
