Outings, Tours, & Camps
Guided half-day kayak fishing charters along the Connecticut shoreline with gear, a guide, and great water all included.
Black Hall Marina's guided kayak fishing charters drop you right into one of Southern New England's most productive fisheries, the tidal rivers, salt marshes, and flats surrounding the Great Island Estuary. You'll launch from our Old Lyme dock aboard an Old Town Sportsman PDL, a pedal-drive kayak that keeps your hands free for what actually matters: casting, fighting, and landing fish. Our guide knows these waters intimately, and he'll adjust the day on the fly, chasing striper blitzes, working a bluefish bite, or slipping into a quiet back-creek where the fluke are sitting.
Every 4-hour charter includes your kayak, a rod-and-reel combo, bait, lures, and terminal tackle, a PFD, and all the tools you'll need to land, handle, and release a fish, fish grips, net, pliers, and first aid if it ever comes to it. You're welcome to bring your own rod if you have a favorite, but otherwise just pack sunglasses, weather-appropriate clothing, a waterproof jacket, water shoes or boots, a towel, a dry change of clothes, and a camera. The fish stories are yours to keep; the photo evidence is up to you.
Charters run seven days a week from May 10 through October 31, with morning trips launching at 7:00 AM and afternoon trips at 2:00 PM. Sessions are capped at three anglers to keep the experience personal and the fishing productive, and your guide will read the tides, the wind, and the bite to put you on the best water that day.

Ryan has been an avid angler since he could hold a rod. Starting in local ponds, he then found an early calling to more advanced fisheries like the Farmington and Jeremey Rivers. He was introduced to salt water fishing while spending his summers at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme.
“The variety of species – and mastering the different strategies that come with each of them – is what drove me to the shore.” - Ryan Tierney
Moving onto kayak fishing at locations like Cornfield Point and Duck Island for Striped Bass is where his fishing career took its final form. His passion for teaching others how to fish started with making videos and live-streaming his fishing trips on platforms like YouTube and Twitch under the handle "Salt Works Bay". That passion has now found it’s way to Black Hall Marina as our professional kayak fishing guide!
